You wouldn’t even let me
But still came to me for words
And impatiently walked away when I could give you only one
Which I wish I could write down for myself
Can I ask again,
What is the valuation of our work ethic?
Is my bad handwriting to blame?
Is it just that?
Sure, you get to be better at everything
But I’m tired of being at the receiving end 

Of a standard to overcome or guard against

Consigned to poor penmanship 
Perhaps I really am not good enough
