I see it...

When I cross the street,
Looking at nothing but my feet,
I know there is contempt in your eyes,
I see it all the time.
I see the hate,
Just when I thought you were my mate.
Darkness lurks in your eyes,
I see it…
I see it all the time.
They may address you as the perfect dime
But your heart is as cold as rime,
And I never fail to see the real you,
No matter what you do.
There’s more to your life,
You don’t seek to end strife.
I see it in your eyes,
I see it all the time.
Your bloodshot eyes stare me down,
I fall facedown,
Whenever you’re around.
I see it in your eyes,
I see it all the time.
I’m a poor waif,
Why do you make me feel unsafe?
It’s hard to trust,
Even someone just.
That uncertainty about your eyes,
Never dies.
I see it all the time.
The defiance in your eyes,
Has drowned you in a thousand lies.
I see it…
The world is tearing apart,
It just breaks my heart.
I see disrespect in all your eyes,
I see it all the time.
Ignorance has taken over,
Your mind is no more sober.
I see it...
It’s all so clear,
Even when you’re nowhere near.
When I cross the street
Looking at nothing but my feet
I know there is contempt in your eyes
I still see it…
I see it all the time.
