Madeleine
I'd like to dedicate this poem to my friends, Vinaya and Sruthi. It's recounting the first time Vi bought madeleine shells to school [haha :')]
Though it may seem insignificant, it somehow means a lot to me now looking back.
Do you remember that day?
When we were,
Still young
And I in lack of
Better adjectives
Disbelievingly finalized them as
The scent of
Lemon-scented towelettes
In our mouths
Soft and sweet
Fresh and cleansing
Somehow
It was as if I could taste fragrance!
Though it makes no sense
How I’m led to remember you
Our dreams
Sweet and
Surprising like
The touch of lemon
In a madeleine shell
Small and great
Fresh
And something new
Our commonness
So uncommon
How I miss you
And those days
Still in want of better words
