Auburn
We were asked to
write a fable in the form of a poem in ten lines (with a message)...
It's not that great
at all :-|
But here you go...
Once upon a time,
lived a girl named Auburn and her Grandma,
In a city whose
people were as cold as biting winter
Messed-up Auburn,
callous and stony, never ready to give a hand
The city is
accountable for the person she is now – broken, battered and panned
The child is not to
blame – no, not the same child who once warm-hearted
So her Grandmother
never gave up on her - “Listen, Auburn, sweet child of mine”, she began
Let love in, let love
nurse you back to health,
And you heart will
glow, will melt all the snow that slays your heart
And heal you of the
frostbite that keeps your hands from helping, from giving.
The cold’s killing
you, Auburn; don’t let it watch the fire in you burn out, don’t let it watch
you die…”
